As a child at school, I was forced to endure case studies during English class of some of the fictional masterpieces. Of Mice and Men, set around the Great Depression years. War Of The Worlds, by far the original and best selling science fiction book of all time. Matilda, Roald Dahl’s attempt to portray a school girl with supernatural powers in order to liberate her school from the clutches of a sadistic headmistress. Or even the likes of Animal Farm, where all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. But George Orwell didn’t just stop at a best seller like animal farm. No; he was busy penning out a novel which even today still sends shockwaves through the powers at be even in the most democratically stable of countries.

I am of course referring to 1984, the satire novel which is so powerful it’s still banned in certain countries to this very day. The C.I.A even contacted George Orwell to have 1984 translated into Russian and then covertly smuggled into the Soviet Union to encourage revolutionary groups and citizens alike to rise up against their Soviet oppressors. Despite having no knowledge whatsoever of the internet and social media, it’s quite astonishing how many aspects Orwell got right about the modern world. The UK for example is one of the most highest technologically monitored states in Europe if not the world, with its millions of CCTV cameras. We have our news delivered to us directly into our hands via the use of apps on our smartphones.
Even laws now which have banned certain teaching of facts within educational environments, providing our modern generation with the wrong impression of certain communities. When used properly, these laws keep us safe and protected from the forces of evil. Being an avid believer in a fair society, knowing that there is a force out there which keeps me safe in bed at night is highly reassuring. Which then begs the question of what happens when protection turns into oppression? Where do we draw that invisible line in the sand that dictates what correct and incorrect to view online and in public? So where does this leave those of us in the kink community under the new Online Safety Act.
I’d be the first to admit that it’s about time that the social media platforms are brought to account by Ofcom for showing imagery and videos of mindless violence, sexual harassment or even verbal abuse. These are most certainly acts which should be banned from our platforms. Mind you, I do find that sometimes some of the banned phrases and words are a bit over the top. For example, the word ‘Femdom’ is now considered a harmful word online. Ok, I could be talking out of my arse here, pardon the pun; but surely the word ‘Femdom’ can’t be harmful to people. I bet you anything now that if you turned to a vanilla individual in the street and asked them what the word Femdom meant, they’d probably think it was the latest name for the O2 arena.
In retrospect, Femdom as a concept is actually a safe and consensual kink carried out by kink, fetish and BDSM lovers all over the world. It’s certainly not violent or harmful to those who conduct it properly, that’s for sure. Saying that the term Femdom is harmful and considered a banned word is a bit like stating that a Dalek shouting the word exterminate is inciting mindless violence. It’s completely farcical. What’s next, are we going to start offering counselling to wasps every time someone takes a swat against the yellow and black menaces with a rolled up magazine or newspaper. Mind you, I always end up in a giggling fit when my parents use words like ‘Faceache’, ‘Twater’ and ‘YouKnob’ to describe social media platforms.
In case you wondered both of my parents grew up in the 1960s, during a time when even the computer was still just a bunch of knobs and dials mounted on a wall rather than the super sensitive A.I driven smartphones that we carry around in our pockets today. Going back even further however I managed to make my grandfather laugh the other day when I told him about a new social media app I referred to as ‘Instagran’. An app which infused an A.I element to super-impose two OAP grannies onto your background in a gross act of photobombing. Even though my grandfather extends from a time decades before the first mobile phone, he still found this April fools style joke to be highly amusing.
“What you kids get up to these days ah girl” he stated to me, (which he still calls me even though I’m now in my early thirties). Getting back to the matter at hand, I was completely blown away by the government’s latest round of banned words which really don’t harm anyone at all. A good example of this was that when I went on X the other day after the Online Safety Act had come into force, I couldn’t view the Femdom Ball page. The Femdom Ball by the way in case you didn’t know is a gala black tie event, where everyone dresses up to the nines. I’d love to know how the Ofcom regulators deem staring at a stunning goddess bedecked from head to toe in a ball gown to be harmful material. The same goes for ‘face-sitting’, which apparently promotes harmful teachings and nudity.
In 99.9 percent of cases, if you turned around to someone vanilla and said to them about face-sitting they’d either call you a weirdo, or the most likely outcome would be to wet themselves laughing and then post about it on TikTok or Instagram. Trust me my darlings, kink is nothing to be ashamed of; not at all. It purely means that you’re into an alternative lifestyle that vanilla individuals just don’t understand because they’re not to your way of thinking. As political correctness gains traction around the world, who knows what could be considered as harmful or dangerous in years to come. Even just typing this blog is making me nervous that the ever vigilant thought police are going to come and shut me down for merely voicing an opinion.
If you’re reading this blog however, it’s hair to say that I have been shut down or shadow banned by the powers at be. How many banned words have I missed? Please do let me know folks if I have missed any, as I’ll try to write about them in the future.
Thanks for reading folks
